U.S. passport fees increase Dec. 27
FORT MYERS, FLA. (Dec. 23, 2021) – Travelers applying for U.S. passports will have to pay an extra $20 starting Dec. 27. The U.S. Department of State recently announced increases to the cost of the passport book for adults and minors.
New and renewal passports for travelers 16 years old and older will cost $130 while passports for minors under 16 will cost $100. An extra $35 processing fee is also applied to all new applications. The increased fee will go toward enhanced security features in the passports that are designed to protect travelers from identity theft and fraud.
Regular processing times are eight to 11 weeks. Travelers also have the option to pay $60 to expedite delivery and receive the passport in five to seven weeks or $17.56 for one-to-two day delivery.
Passport services are available by appointment only at the Clerk’s office, which is an official acceptance facility of the U.S. Department of State. Visit www.leeclerk.org/passports to download forms or learn more about applying for a passport.
