Linda Doggett, Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller
Linda was elected in 2012 to take office in 2013 as the first woman to be elected as Clerk of Court.
She holds Degrees in both Computer Science and Management Information Systems and has consistently advocated for technology efficiencies locally as well as for clerks statewide.
Linda currently serves on four statewide Clerk committees and the Lee County United Way Board of Directors. Linda was presented the 2016 Partnership Award by Florida Rural Legal Services; and in 2016 and in 2018 the Lee County Bar Association recognized Linda for her commitment to provide improved access to the courts through the Clerk’s Self Help Center and partnership with Legal Aid.
In 2019, Linda was awarded the Clerk of the Year award by the Florida Association of Court Clerks and Comptrollers for her efforts to lead strategic technology planning and initiatives, including the self-funded statewide rollout of TurboCourt. Linda is also very proud of establishing the Inspector General’s Office in Lee County.
Her pledge to her constituents is accountability & transparency for government and to operate efficiently using technology solutions.
Kevin Karnes, Chief Operating Officer
Kevin was appointed to Chief Operating Officer for the Clerk’s Office in January 2021.
Kevin holds a Master’s Degree in Legal Studies (MLS) from American Public University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Florida Gulf Coast University. He is a 14 year veteran of the Clerk’s office and has held a variety leadership positions managing many projects and legislative changes.
As Chief Operating Officer, Kevin is responsible for guiding our team members through new challenges. In this capacity, Kevin oversees 6 departments; Human Resources, Finance and Records, Courts, Department of Innovation and Technology, Records Management, and Communications. In recent times, this office has faced stronger demands and unforeseen circumstances that that have forced us to reimage how to best provide services to the citizens of Lee County. Kevin’s track record over the years makes him qualified to face these demands. Kevin has always worked to provide improved services to the public and reduce operational costs through reducing our reliance on paper records, streamlining many data entry processes, and adding online services. Current examples of his success are TeleClerk, Make an Appointment, eCertify, and Clerk Edition.
Kevin is proud to have previously served as a Guardian Ad Litem and has been a News-Press Editorial Board member. He also volunteers for the United Way.
Kevin’s goals are to continue the Clerk’s vision of being recognized as a premier model of exceptional government and to provide outstanding customer service to our community.
