Lee Clerk Hosts Free How-To Class on Tax Deed Sales

Post Date:11/02/2023 2:39 PM

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Nov. 2, 2023) --- Anyone who would like to learn how to participate in a tax deed sale is invited to attend a free class hosted by Lee County Clerk Kevin Karnes.

The “How-To” class will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 2-3 p.m. at the North Fort Myers Public Library, located at 2001 N. Tamiami Trail in Room B.

The purpose of the sale of tax deeds is to satisfy delinquent property taxes. If a property owner fails to pay property taxes, a tax certificate is sold by the Tax Collector. After two years of purchasing the certificate, the certificate holder may request an online tax deed sale of the property by the Clerk.

The How-To class will cover:

  • General tax deed information
  • How to register for an account online
  • How to deposit funds into the registry
  • Steps in the tax deed sale process
  • Post tax deed sale information

Participants should register for the class at www.leeclerk.org/seminar.

This class is part of the “How-To” series provided by the Lee Clerk’s office to educate the community about all of the resources available to them. Recorded tutorials of past “How-To” classes are available at www.leeclerk.org/howto.
