Applications for marriage license are received and processed both in the Fort Myers and the Cape Coral Branch offices.
You will be required to complete the Marriage License
Application form in the Clerk's office or you can download and bring with you
the following form:

U.S. citizens are required to have their Social Security number.
Both parties must apply in person. No personal checks will be accepted.
The only acceptable forms of identification are: valid driver's license from any state; valid alien registration "green" card; military ID; valid passport; or valid state ID card. If you are 16 or 17 years old, the only acceptable form of identification is a certified birth certificate. The birth certificate must be accompanied by a consent form from each parent that is listed on the birth certificate.
Licenses are valid for 60 days from the effective date.
If previously married, the date of divorce, death or annulment is needed. A certified copy of the divorce judgment is required if divorce has been within 30 days of the date of marriage application. Blood tests are not required.
The Lee County Clerk's Office does not provide a premarital preparation course. In order for the Clerk's Office to waive the 3 day waiting period, your premarital preparation course must be from one of the providers registered with the Lee County Clerk's Office. If you are a premarital preparation course provider you need to register with the Lee County Clerk's Office Please click on the link to download the Premarital Preparation Course Provider Registration Form. This form must be completed and returned to the following address: Lee County Clerk's Office, PO BOX 2278, Attention: Marriage License Office, Fort Myers, Florida 33902. This form can not be used as proof of premarital counseling. Marriage ceremonies may be performed by a member of the clergy, elder of the church, notary public of the State of Florida, member of the judiciary or Clerk of Courts.
Our fee is $30.00 (cash only) for performing the ceremony. This is done at the Recording office counter, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, in both the Fort Myers and Cape Coral offices.
The hours to apply for a marriage license are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday in the Fort Myers office, or 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Cape Coral office.
If you are getting married in the State of Florida, you may obtain your marriage license in any county within the State.
